Ana Masacote began her formal dance training in folklórico at the age of 5 and Salsa at the age of 15. Ana has since traveled to 25+ countries performing and teaching around the world. Her unique style, distinctive movement, uncanny musicality, adaptability to follow any lead, and attention to detail have earned her tremendous popularity around the world.
Outside of dance, Ana attended the prestigious MIT Sloan School of Management and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing. She co-founded Masacote Entertainment with husband Joel Masacote in 2003. Together, they are making waves throughout the salsa industry with their distinction of merging music and dance.

Anara Frank, Anara began training in gymnastics as a child, and fell in love with Salsa in 1990. She is the director of MetaMovements and has been instrumental in growing the Boston Salsa Scene. In the mid-90s, she created the first Salsa Dance Company in Boston, which became the training ground for thousands of students including many popular teachers and performers of today. She has taught salsa in Europe, Asia & the Caribbean, and is internationally recognized for her vast repertoire of salsa drills and her attention to technique and detail.
Anara brings a unique set of skills to the Salsa Community, from her 15+ years of coaching successful gymnastics and dance teams, to her certification in Horton Technique from Alvin Ailey, to her specialized training in fitness, flexibility, sports psychology, biomechanics and choreography. Students of Anara’s can be found teaching around the country, and have achieved success in a range of areas, from developing dance programs for at-risk youth, to performing with icons like J-Lo and Janet Jackson, to founding their own renowned dance companies.

-- BURJU HURTURK PEREZ --
Burju Hurturk Perez, co-director of Hacha y Machete, directs and choreographs for 3 teams consisting of over 40 dancers as well as choreographs and produces showcases for a national award-winning teen troop. She has helped develop the “Learn Through Dance” in-school program that affords inner city elementary students the opportunity to learn dance and experience the benefits of engaging in the arts.
Burju has worked very hard to develop her own style of Salsa that incorporates her background in different disciplines. She began as a Rhythmic Gymnast and trained in Ballet and Jazz at a fairly young age. She then became interested in Hip-Hop and Modern and danced in various dance troops and productions. In college she became a part of a dance troop that incorporated Latin dancing. In 2001, she co-founded HYM with her husband, Victor Perez, and was a part of the Fogarete Dance Project directed by Juan Matos for 3 years.
Burju met her husband and best friend through dance, which is the main reason it remains such a major part of her life. Dance has given them the opportunity to be entrepreneurs together and to travel the world together.

-- JULISSA CRUZ --
Puerto Rico's own Julissa Cruz is one of the most diverse dancers in the world of Latin Dance. She got her start in dancing ballet, jazz, and modern dance in Puerto Rico and then relocated to Florida where she continued her training and added tap, lyrical, and hip hop to her repertoire of disciplines.
Julissa has choreographed and performed for several stage productions and recording artists such as Charlie Cruz, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and N'klave, and also served as director of Salsa Heat Dance Company in Orlando, Florida. She most recently served as head choreographer for the Latin stage production "Migue" and was also featured on the BTS reality show "Making the Team."
Now partnered with Gordon Neil, Julissa is part of one of the most creative and progressive couples in the international Latin dance industry.
Julissa Cruz lives in Richmond, VA, where she is currently teaching and working with her company Latin Vintage when at home while performing and teaching nationally and internationally throughout the year in such places as France, Poland, Bermuda, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the US.
